This downtown neighborhood has great historic roots, gracious homes and a mix of low rise apartments for rent. It is urban and quiet, but on the funky, bohemian side of things.  Those of you seeking a home with character are well-advised to search in this area.

Westmount/Uptown

The older neighborhood of Westmount preserves its turn of the century vibe with low rise buildings, mature trees and picturesque street lamps. Within Westmount, the distinct areas of Belmont Village and Uptown Waterloo are closer to downtown. Uptown has seen intense condo development in recent years (many of them warehouse and factory restorations) so, there are plenty of unique rental options in the region - many of them flush with swimming pools, fitness centers, and other modern features and amenities you would expect from newer properties.

Laurelwood

Away from downtown and closer to the Laurel Creek Conservation Area, the neighborhood of Laurelwood has a nice mix of single family homes, condos and apartments for rent. A favorite among outdoor enthusiasts, the nature loving and active sort will enjoy the convenient access to so many open green spaces.  With good access to all sorts of amenities, this area is smart bet for newcomers seeking affordable homes.

Nearby

Waterloo is surrounded by historical and interesting attractions that make for wonderful day trips. Most notably, the community of St. Jacobs is famous for its farmers' market and, along with the towns of Elmira and Heidelberg, preservation of Pennsylvania-Dutch and Mennonite culture. It is also worth noting that Niagara Falls is a mere hour and a half's drive as is the city of Toronto.
